CPI (ML )Red Star Odisha State Committee strongly demands an impartial investigation on KIIT University Incident

Kathmandu.CPI (ML )Red Star Odisha State Committee has strongly   demanded  an impartial investigation on KIIT University incident. CPI (ML)Red Star Odisha state committee secretary Com. Pramila has issued a press statement on 20 th February 2025  as following –
CPI ML Red Star Odisha state committee condemn the said suicide of a Nepali girl student at KIIT University and the beating of protesting students by KIIT staff.
The incident of the planned attack on Nepali students by the KIIT authorities has forced Odisha to face disgrace once again at the international level. The said suicide of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsaal from Rupandehi district of Nepal at KIIT University, which is built in the heart of Bhubaneswar, self-absorbed in promoting itself as a model educational center, has stirred the public’s mind as much as it has created a more painful situation. She was 20 years old and BTech 3rd year student of KIIT .
The despicable attempt by the KIIT administration to oppress the ranks of the deceased student’s classmates by ignoring their demands for justice and beating them by the security personnel has tarnished the educational prestige of Odisha. The Nepali student was being subjected to physical and mental harassment by a Indian student and despite her repeated complaints to the IRO (International Relation Officer) for her safety and justice the consequences of the student being the victim of no action are slowly being revealed. On 16 th February the girl found dead.According to Police it’s a case of suicide. The most sad and regrettable thing is that the dead body of the Nepali student was kept away from the view of her classmates and there was a huge uproar in this regard. No one can tolerate the inhumane treatment of the students by the security personnel and the attitude of hostel warden towards the students. Not only this, the cruel comments given by the KIIT authorities to the protesting Nepali students like “Pack your belongings and go wherever you want” crossed all limits of decency. Evidence is circulating in the media that the authorities have threatened to expel them by force if Nepali students not vacate the campus immediately. The level of indecency towards foreign students was crossed when the female authority tried to show them a red eye by loudly saying that the Nepali budget is not comparable to the expenses of the children studying free of cost in the KIIT. Such an embarrassing incident has raised the fear of greatly affecting the international relations of India with Nepal in the coming days. Despite the fact that Bhubaneswar Railway Station is close to the Vishwa Vidyalaya campus in terms of distance, the reason why hundreds of Nepali students were forcibly dropped off near the Cuttack Railway Station in a hurry exposes the conspiracy of the KIIT authorities to cover up the incident. It is worth mentioning that many of them did not have money for the tickets, many were sick, many had been hungry for a long time and many Nepali students were in doubt about their destination. In this incident, the Nepali Prime Minister was also angry and strongly condemned the inhuman treatment of the KIIT authorities towards the Nepali students through tweets. But unfortunately, our state government remained a silent spectator to the inhumane treatment of international students by private institutions. Finally, under pressure from the External Affairs Ministry, our state’s Higher Education Minister tried to broker a temporary truce by saying that everything was fine and that since it was a private school, the government could not exercise special powers in the matter. Finally, the police arrested five of the school’s employees and are trying to silence the chief Assamese educationist.
If the law and order situation was under control according to the police and the authorities, then it was completely unclear why the innocent Nepali students were forced to vacate the campus and return home.
It is a clear example of the state government failing to fulfill its responsibility by giving priority to private educational institutions and succumbing to their Actually BJP government of Odisha is dutybound to implement overtime for the privatization and saffronization of education.
Therefore, the CPI (ML )Red Star Odisha State Committee strongly demands an impartial investigation into such a shameful incident and for justice to the deceased strict punishment to the real culprits. Apart from that we demand strict action against those officials responsible for beating protesting Nepali students.CPI( ML) Red Star Odisha State Committee demands that the state government make arrangements to provide proper education with respect to all Nepali students.
