Kathmandu. Acinto Roldán,General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Argentina,on April 30 at the age of 85.About him,a short biography was published on the Party Weekly Magazine HOY as below–
It is with great sadness that we inform that on April 30 our beloved General Secretary, comrade Jacinto Roldán, passed away at the age of 85. Acinto Roldán was one of the
fundamental pillars in the construction of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Argentina, together with our first general secretary Otto Vargas and many other comrades. With him, our working class and our people, as well as the revolutionaries of the whole
world, have lost a complete revolutionary, and a great Marxist Leninist Maoist.Jacinto, as our JCR rightly said”He was a tireless militant, a true communist who dedicated his whole
life to the revolution and to collective work, without to seek prominence, always committed to the causes of the people”. Roldán was born in an area of the Federal Capital, Bajo Flores, then a poor neighborhood. and proletarian, in the early 1940s. From a childhood in which he alternated playing soccer with working as a child and collaborating with his mother, he moved on to a youth in which he began to work in Aerolineas Argentinas, and became a communist admiring to Che Guevara, and by affiliating with the Communist Youth Federation. Jacinto was part of the young people who helped found our PCR, in the face of the betrayal of the leadership of the CP to the revolutionary cause. In the Party he shared his first years of militancy with César Gody Álvarez, the beloved Gordo Antonio, before he left for Córdoba, to be an irreplaceable part of the workers’ and popular
struggles, together with René Salamanca.
Jacinto Roldán, at the beginning In the 1970s he secretary of the La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada area, where he was at the head of the anti coup and anti-dictatorial struggle of
our Party, while he was the great promoter of a Party with roots among the workers and peasants of the region, playing a great role in processes of struggle of the meat workers of the Swift of Berisso, such as the strike against the dictatorship in 1979, during the dictatorship of Videl Castro. and the Río Santiago Shipyard. He was also a promoter of the work between the and poor farmers, helping to create the Asociación de Medieros Afines (Asoma).
After the dictatorship, as coordinator of the Greater Buenos Aires Party, he was part of the
leadership of historical processes of struggle, from the takeover of Ford in 1985, the creation of the Corriente Clasista Combativa and its movements of unemployed and retirees during the years of hunger. menemista. Also in the struggle of Kraft in 2009, and the creation of the National Peasant Federation, always seeking that the masses be protagonists of the political debate and find in the Party the tool to advance on the revolutionary road.Jacinto Roldán was a great Marxist Leninist-Maoist. Enthusiastic
researcher of the revolutionary achievements and profound scholar, he always said that we all had to train ourselves, and not give away the theory to others. He was in China on several occasions, in which he learned from the experience of the Chinese Maoists, and defended the banners of Marxism-Leninism against the revisionists.Upon the death of Jorge Rocha,Roldán became Secretary of Organization of our Party. From there,as he had always done, he unfolded a tireless task to defend the unity of the Party, giving full scope to the debates, with the conviction that the openness and the collective functioning of the
party organizations, always putting the party’s unity at the forefront, would be the best way to achieve the unity of the Party.
The collective before the individual,is what allows us to develop and strengthen a Party that is habitable for the simplest, as I always said, and that they make it their own in the fight for the revolution. It was Jacinto who, after the death of Otto Vargas, shouldered the Party, and fought firmly for its unity and for the historical continuity of a line, affirming on the 50th anniversary of the PCR that “We are the Party of Otto Vargas”.He was an irreplaceable pillar in the political orientation in these last ,both in the defeat of Macrismo in the streets and at the ballot boxes, in the difficult moments of the pandemic, and more recently,in the fight for the just unity in the Frente de Todos and in the independence within the united front. In that journey Jacinto fought firmly for the unity of the Party, promoting the realization of our 13th Congress in 2022, after which he was appointed General Secretary of the PCR. In recent times, its political orientation was fundamental for the Party to confront the reactionary government at the outset. and surrenderist of Milei, working for the broadest unity against his policies. Roldán was an example of a simple communist, who did not like to talk about himself but about the Party, and he was a great dialectical materialist, who taught us that we all have two aspects, and that we all have two aspects.
we have to fight a constant battle so that the good prevails over the bad, always
keeping the revolution as our north (see homage on pages 5, 6, 7 and 8).Jacinto was a convinced revolutionary, and he transmitted that conviction that it is worth fighting, even in the most difficult moments; and consequently, he was an exemplary militant until the last
moment of his life.In these difficult times of his absence, the example of Jacinto Roldán is a source of inspiration and encouragement for us. strengthens us in the fight for the revolution in Argentina, and commit ourselves to uphold his legacy and that of Otto Vargas, as well as the banners of Marxism-Leninism –Maoism.
