Statement of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal (RCPN) on the Hamas-Israel War.
The ongoing war, which began on 7 October 2023, between the Palestinian militant group Hamas and the state of Israel has drawn the serious attention of our party, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal (RCPN).
After nearly one and a half months of the outbreak of the armed conflict, Israel and Hamas agreed to implement a four-day ceasefire agreement that extended to seven days from 24–30 November. The truce couldn’t live longer and bring hope for the end of the devastating war and has been continuing to date, which spans almost nine months.
As of now, several thousand people have lost their precious lives during this war. Among them, most of them are women and children, along with 108 journalists (103 Palestinian, 2 Israeli, and 3 Lebanese) and over 224 humanitarian aid workers, including 179 employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The above facts and figures make it crystal clear that the war has evolved into a genocidal crime, and both the Palestinian people in Gaza as well as the Israeli people have suffered a lot. In a nutshell, Gaza has converted into an open jail and just like a dreadful graveside.
The RCPN had already handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister of Israel, His Excellency Benjamin Netanyahu through the embassy of Israel in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 17 October 2023 and conveyed our solemn concerns over the consequences of the war. Likewise, our party organized a protest rally and corner meeting in front of the Israeli embassy and conveyed a message of protest to the government of Israel on 29 January 2024.The RCPN maintains the view that the ongoing brutal war between the two sides has perpetrated inhuman atrocities against the unarmed ordinary masses of Palestinian people living in Gaza. The RCPN is in favor of an independent and sovereign Palestine statehood and vehemently opposes the unauthorized occupation of the Palestine territory by the state of Israel.
The RCPN, hence, once again, condemns the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime in the strongest possible terms of the Israeli authorities in general and drawing grave attention to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the head of the government, in particular, to immediately stop this brutal and genocidal war here and now and to take the initiative for peace-building so that the peace-loving people of Israel and Palestine could live in harmony and breathe peacefully and prosper hand in hand.The RCPN, at the same time, condemns the warmongering policies and practices of Western imperialist countries, namely, the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, which are siding with the regime of Israel as well.
