Kathmandu.International Antiimperialist United Front against
Fascism, War and Environmental Destruction
Consultative Committee of the United Front
informed about very successful webinar on the
topic of 8 March, International Women’s Day! It took place on 23 February and had 135
participants from 27 countries and 4 continents!
The special feature was that all the speakers for the opening speeches were women! We had agreed this and there was a remarkable initiative by women and men to win over the remarkable list of female speakers. Women from the focal points of the struggles for national and social liberation, such as representatives from Palestine,Rojava, Western Sahara, spoke about their lives and struggles in their countries. Mariam Abu Daqqa from Palestine got to the heart of the matter: “Together for the victory over imperialism, capitalism, fascism, Nazism and colonialism!”
Women workers and leaders from imperialist countries such as Italy,Germany and France
spoke. Special activists against imperialist war, above all from Russia and the USA,spoke.
They made it clear: women and their future prospects should not be underestimated!
The webinar reiterated the challenge to US President Donald Trump for his fascist policies.
Participants from the USA reported on the oppression against women in the USA, sexist violence and almost slave-like working conditions.Women are being told by the government:If you want to liberate yourselves, you have to become part of the oppressing class. But it is not liberation to participate in an oppressive power on equal terms! Gabi Fechtner from the MLPD focused in particular on the dramatically escalating world situation and said: “This year’sInternationalWomen’sDaytakesplaceinextraordinaryandcomplicatedtimes.Thisrequiresusabove all to organize the raising of consciousness in connection with the struggles. The inauguration of the fascist Donald Trump in the USA is a turning point. His measures are organizing the transitiontoafascistdictatorship.Thedangeroffascismisloomingacutelyinmore
and more countries.”Representatives of important struggles of the miners and their families had their say at the
webinar. From Stilfontein/South Africa we received information about the struggle of the miners who were starved and murdered by the government. A protest statement by the United
Front can be found in the attachment. From Georgia, where the Chiatura miners are fighting
for their rights, a young woman reported on the struggle that women not only get emancipation in one area, but need complete, also economic and social emancipation.
Solidarity with the workers, women and men,is important because they are the leading and
decisive force in the struggle for a society-changing movement and for socialism.
We were also able to welcome new organizations such as the 23 September Movement from Italy and the Comfort Women’s Movement from Korea, which informs people about Japanese war crimes in the form of rape and organizes protests.
